Internal corrosion is a main contributing factor to pipeline failures and leaks.

Predicting internal corrosion can be difficult due to a massive matrix of conditions and nearly infinite combinations of potential fluid, environmental and production issues.

Using advanced modelling software, designers and engineers can manage corrosion risks by selecting the right materials and mitigation requirements.

In this webinar, we will present the latest modelling techniques and tools to help you predict and mitigate pipeline corrosion.

Internal corrosion

You’ll learn how to:

Select the right input parameters for corrosion modelling

Understand the full lifecycle costs of material selection decisions

Piping design

Prevent internal corrosion problems when designing oil pipelines

Who should attend

This webinar is relevant to pipeline and piping designers, integrity, materials and corrosion engineers and managers responsible for dealing with corrosion and materials selection in pipeline and piping systems.

The session takes about 60 minutes.

Certificate

A certificate of completion that may be submitted for professional development hour (PDH) credits* will be provided upon request at the end of the session (see feedback survey).

*This webinar is intended to assist participants in retaining and expanding their knowledge base. Wood will provide a certificate for attending the live webinar if requested at the end of the session. Acceptance as a professional development hour is at the discretion of the organisation that receives the submittal.

About ECE

ECE™ (Electronic Corrosion Engineer) is a software tool that predicts corrosion rates and helps select corrosion-resistant materials, delivering realistic corrosion assessments calibrated to real field data.

Key features:

  • New project feasibility and concept studies
  • Front-end and detailed design engineering
  • Selection of suitable and cost-effective materials
  • Analysing operational corrosion problems
  • Life prediction and life extension

Launched 20 years ago, Wood’s ECE software is currently used by customers in more than 30 countries. The software is continuously being developed by some of the world’s leading corrosion scientists.

Updates are released annually based on customer requirements and feedback, with the next release (5.6) scheduled for early 2020.

New features in the latest release (ECE 5.6) include:

  • A bulk calculation tool that evaluates corrosion resistant alloys (CRA) in surface and downhole tubing applications, for faster assessment of multiple datasets
  • Measurements of CO2 and H2S concentrations dissolved in the water phase can now be used as an alternative to gas-phase concentrations to enable more accurate modelling of liquid full systems
  • Flowline and tubing corrosion predictor tools can now calculate and handle situations with nil liquid-phase water occurring at points along the flowline or tubing string
  • Bubblepoint conditions can now be entered in the downhole tubing corrosion predictor
  • In the flowline life cycle cost calculator, more detailed monitoring and inspection costs may be considered

Attendees can get early access to new ECE 5.6 features (licence required).
