Proximity probe measurements of rotor vibration provide vast insight into the health of rotating machinery.
However, it can be difficult to determine the right inspection or remedial plans based on vibration data alone. Rotordynamic plots can be complex, and characteristics can often be explained by more than one theory or cause.
This one-hour online training will present the basics of rotor vibration measurement analysis.
We will apply concepts from rotordynamics to explain field measurements, provide examples of field data to demonstrate fault types and present a case study to interpret centrifugal compressor vibration data using a rotordynamic model.
You’ll learn how to:
Understand bode, orbit and polar plots
Identify common characteristics and faults
Interpret vibration data measured on centrifugal compressors
Who should attend
This training course is relevant to machinery engineers, operators, and managers and technicians responsible for the maintenance and reliability of rotating assets.
Certificate
A certificate of completion that may be submitted for professional development hour (PDH) credits* will be provided upon request at the end of the session (see feedback survey).
The session will take about 60 minutes.
*This webinar is intended to assist participants in retaining and expanding their knowledge base. Wood will provide a certificate for attending the live webinar if requested at the end of the session. Acceptance as development credits is at the discretion of the organisation that receives the submittal.
Presenter
Wally Bratek, MSc, PEng
Wally is a principal consultant in Wood’s vibration, dynamics and noise group.
His 20 years’ design and field experience include acoustical (pulsation) and mechanical vibration analysis, machinery dynamics, field testing and troubleshooting, alignment, high-speed balancing, lateral rotordynamics, piping flexibility and flow-induced pulsation.
Wally has presented multiple papers at industry conferences, is a member of the GMRC Gas Machinery Conference Planning Committee and is an active member of the API 688 2nd Edition task force for pulsation and vibration control for positive displacement machinery.
Our asset integrity and reliability solutions are designed by engineers for engineers, fuelled by our deep understanding of design, operational and maintenance challenges.
